Dr. David Moriarty is a professor of biological sciences at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He has served in a number of posts, including acting dean for the College of Science, since joining the university in 1976. Moriarty is especially interested in structural aspects of community ecology and ornithology. In his own words, "I work with birds because I like them and know a little about them."
Moriarty received a bachelor's, masters and Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Illinois. He is a member of a number of organizations including the Ecological Society of America, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Institute of Biological Sciences and American Ornithologists' Union.
