Making A Better World
BT is committed to making a better, more sustainable world through better communications. Through our Better World Campaign we focus on helping children reach their full potential which is why we are proud to sponsor The Big Experiment.
Our Better World Campaign
Good communication skills are essential for leading happy and successful lives. They are one of the top 10 core life skills according to UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Health Organisation.
Yet more and more young people are starting their education without the fundamental skills of speaking and listening. A lack of these skills can seriously affect their development and their careers in later life.
We focus on improving speaking and listening skills so that people understand each other, have effective conversations, and collaborate with each other to achieve their goals.
The Campaign aims to develop these skills by providing:
- Free resources for teachers, pupils and families
- School visits and events delivered by BT Volunteers or specialist drama teams
- Training through dialogic training techniques
- A Communication mark for schools.
There is a wide range of free resources – Interactive DVDs, on-line games, printable material and radio podcasts for teachers, parents and for pupils at every stage of development.
For more information visit the Better World Campaign site.
Our Commitment
BT's social investment is firmly based around areas where we can use our expertise and technology to make the biggest impact possible. These range from helping charities coordinate major telephone and online appeals that raise millions of pounds to leading the world in global sustainability , demonstrated by the fact we’ve shrunk our carbon emissions by 60% over the last 10 years.
For further detail on our commitment in these areas please visit the BT Better World Website.
