The Egyptian Pyramids have always been surrounded by mystery. The first were built around 4,500 years ago and until the end of the 19th century no other buildings on Earth could match their sheer size.
The Ancient Egyptians had a precise knowledge of geometry and astronomy which has led to some speculation that the Pyramids weren’t built by man at all, but by an alien race who visited our planet thousands of years ago.
When Egyptologists began to open the tombs of the pharaohs, rumours abounded that anyone who raided them would be cursed. Many think a curse was to blame for the death of Lord Carnarvon, who funded Howard Carter’s expedition to open King Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1923. He died of pneumonia after being bitten by a mosquito a few weeks after the tomb was opened.
