What is a conspiracy theory?
What is a conspiracy theory?
The word “conspiracy” is derived from the Latin word “conspirare”, meaning “to breathe together”

Conspiracy theories tell us that a group of people or organisations have conspired to manipulate an event, or series of events, to get the outcome they want – then keep it quiet.

So are we paranoid or are things going on behind the scenes that we know nothing about?

One suggestion is that we need conspiracy theories to explain away the huge, often frightening events beyond our control. With the world shrinking because of modern technology, conspiracy theories can spread faster than ever before.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of websites devoted to uncovering conspiracies on everything from the death of Princess Diana to who really built the pyramids in Egypt.
