John McKeown
John describes himself as having 'an average British childhood'. His parents separated when he was 10 (on his birthday) and his mum took him and his four sisters to live in Wales.
Here he was singled out as 'the scouser' and claims he was often made the scapegoat for anything that happened in school. He was eventually expelled from school at 14 with no qualifications. John became hooked on 'smoking cannabis, chasing girls, driving cars and staying out'.
John was 16 when his mum could take no more of his behaviour, particularly his violent attitude towards her new partner, and booted him out of the family home. He then spent a year homeless on the streets of Liverpool. As far as this new challenge goes John says he can handle anything 'so long as he has a bed'.
