Troy Stephenson

Troy, who has a two year old daughter, has been unemployed for a long while and spends all his spare time just chilling with his mates. He says that he witnessed a lot of negativity in the area he grew up in but he is fiercely determined not to fall in the same trap.

After college Troy completed a 12 week programme on the Prince Trust Volunteer Scheme. But during this time he also hung around with friends who had a tendency to get into a lot of trouble. According to Troy, he was too clever to get caught or get directly involved in what his mates were doing. He has been arrested once, however, for GBH, but when it came to court he pleaded self-defence and was acquitted.

Troy also describes himself as a very proud person. He used to sell drugs just because he didn’t like taking money from his mum, and so that she could provide for his brother and sister instead. He is desperate to learn from this experience because he doesn’t want to end up in prison like some of his friends. Troy also thinks it will give him the bit of motivation and confidence he needs to make something of his life.
