Young performer:
Back in the US, continuing financial trouble forced River and Rain back into singing for their supper, entering talent contests across Florida. The family moved to LA in the hope of finding work for their talented children. For a while it was back to singing on street corners until Hollywood agent Iris Burton spotted the appealing six year old River and took him under her wing.
Bit parts, commercials and small TV roles kept the family fed, although the commercials troubled the ethically-minded youngster. Finally, at the age of 14, River got his first movie role in long-forgotten sci-fi film The Explorers (1985).
