Making history

The Gustafson family, or rather, the Demtech company, appears in the record books for various achievements. At the end of 2003 they broke the existing record for demolishing the longest structure, a 2,682ft long bridge in Ohio.

The year before, the family had demolished a similar bridge, but split the job into two separate phases. But in Ohio it was a one-shot deal and this is how the Blasters made history and made their mark in the field of demolition.

Other examples of how they have done this are 'Explosion of the biggest structure' a record set when a 2.7 million sq ft warehouse of the Sears department store was blown to smithereens; 'Explosion of the tallest structure' for a power plant of the Matla Power company that was 1,217ft high; and 'Explosion of the tallest building' for a store that was 439ft high.
