A famous international movie star hailing from China and Hong Kong, Jet Li was spotted at the age of eight for his superior agility and sent to Beijing's Amateur Sports School for formal training in wu shu. He won many national wu shu championships and became a national coach while in his teens. Li was then invited to join the Beijing professional wu shu team and travelled to perform in some 40 countries around the world, including at the White House for President Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger.
Well regarded for his athletic accomplishments, his first film Shaolin Temple (1982) shot him to super stardom. He then starred in many more including Once Upon A Time In China (1991) and Fong Sai Yuk (1993).
His popularity led him to starring roles in Hollywood, debuting as a villain in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998). His first Hollywood lead role was in Romeo Must Die (2000). Jet Li performs most of his own stunts.
