Most Haunted
The Queen Mary
FACT FILE
The most haunted ship in the world, The Queen Mary weighs an incredible 81,000 tons and has 55 recorded ghosts.

The Queen Mary was built in 1936 as a revolutionary cruise ship for the Cunard Line. During World War II she served in the British Navy before returning to service as a cruise liner, finally retiring in Long Beach in 1967. Such an unusual history it was bound to leave a mark.

The Queen Mary is notorious for ghostly sightings and unexplained paranormal activity. Door 13 in the engine room has a ghost of a man crushed to death during a watertight door drill. Many visitors and crewmembers have described witnessing a young man in blue overalls walking near the door. The epicentre of the hauntings is the swimming pool. The ghosts of women dressed in old fashion bathing suits have been regularly reported. Trails of wet footsteps have also been seen, yet the pool has been drained.

Every haunted location seems to have a white lady, and the Queen Mary is no exception. She can be seen in the Queen’s Salon dancing by herself in the shadows. If you like music with your hauntings, you’ll not be disappointed. The Queen Mary also has a phantom grand-piano player, whose eerie notes shock visitors to the ship.
