Pro Since: 2002

A rider of many skills, Bileka had an exciting first year with the team in 2005, taking part in the team´s winning effort at the Tour of Italy – his fourth Giro in a row – as well as other high marks. An aggressive rider with a knack for getting in breakaways and finishing strongly, Bileka should continue to find his place on the team and contribute in many ways.

A teammate of Yaroslav Popovych since their days in the amateur ranks, the 27-year-old Ukrainian raced a complete season in 2005, beginning in February and concluding in Italy in October. A top 10 finish (ninth) began the season at the Tour of the Algarve, helping the team win the team classification. Bileka rode strongly at Semana Catalana in March, finishing fourth in three of the first four stages - all field sprints. The following month, at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Bileka had three more top five stage finishes, including third on the final day to finish third overall and second in the points classification. After leading the team at the Amstel Gold Race, Bileka was solid at the Tour de Romandie as a lead up to the Tour of Italy. At the Giro, he rode for eventual winner Paolo Savoldelli and also placed third in the mass sprint to Marina di Grosseto in stage six. He again showed his strength in the time trial over the summer, placing third in the Ukrainian national championships.

Bileka´s busy 2004 season included several World Cup events and, along with the Giro, many Italian races. He turned in solid efforts at the Coppa Bernocchi (10th) and the Gran Premio Formaggi Guffanti (13th) while at the Giro, Bileka rode strongly for his teammates and was the second best placed rider on his team, behind Popovych´s fifth place finish. In the 2003 Giro, he was the fourth highest placed finisher on his team. In 2002, Bileka won his first pro race the day before Popovych won his. Bileka won the first of four races at the Trophy Porec in Croatia. The next day, Bileka and Popovych rode clear of the field and came to the line together, with Popo winning and Bileka second. Later on that season, Bileka was 10th at the GP Geneva, an event won by Popovych.

In 2001, Bileka came through with a handful of solid races in his last season as an amateur, winning the U23 race at Italy´s Giro della Valtiberina. Later that year, Bileka won the 139km fifth stage of Germany´s Thuringen-Rundfahrt to Oberhof and also came through with strong efforts at the GP Tell (three top 10 stage finishes) and the Giro del Ticino, finishing ninth on the heels of three top-six stage finishes.
