Steve McHugh working on his competition-winning entry (DCL)

Steve McHugh from Tamworth, Staffordshire, won last year’s competition to find the nation’s best modified car with his creation – ‘Odyssey’. This modded car uses a VW-based Nova kitcar for the lifting roof, has a 1641 Beetle engine and running gear, and the body was designed and built by hand by Steve.

Even more impressive is that he doesn’t have a garage, so all the work was done on his driveway.

We catch up with him to find out more about our winner and what got him into the world of custom cars.
