David Ginola

David Ginola (DCL)

During a long and distinguished career in international soccer with Paris St-Germain, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Everton, David was voted 'Player of the Year' in both his native France (1994) and in England (1999), the only French player to have been bestowed both of these honours.

After his football David Ginola took the first steps towards a career in acting by attending classes at RADA.

David made his acting debut as ‘Didier the Butcher’, the leading part in the Anglo-French short film Rosbeef. Rosbeef, a tale of love, lust and a kilo of sausages, premiered during the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

Rosbeef was awarded the 'Coup De Coeur CANAL+' prize at the 1st International Festival of 'Cinema and Gastronomy' in Dijon in 2004.

After playing ‘Mr Firecul the devil’ in Mr Firecul, David Ginola finished shooting his first feature film, The Last Drop, in Romania, alongside Agathe de la Boulaye, Laurence Fox, Michael Madsen, Nick Moran, Sean Pertwee, Karel Roden and Billy Zane. The Last Drop was premiered during the Cannes 2005 Film Festival.

David Ginola is French. To be more precise David Ginola is a Provençal, from the shores of the Gulf of St Tropez in 'le 83', the Var department. Wine is part of David’s upbringing. He remembers going to collect wine from the cooperative as a kid with his father on weekends.

Whilst still a professional footballer David attempted to buy the ‘Domaine de la Bastide Blanche’ near St Tropez but was outbid. His avowed dream was to buy a domaine in Provence and to produce top quality rosé, reds and whites. David continued to look for a domaine in which to invest and finally discovered Coste Brulade in 2006.

Together with the domaine’s winemaker Jean-Christophe Audéoud they have now produced a red, a white and a rosé of which they are justifiably proud.

David is determined to show that the Var region can produce outstanding wines.

David has fronted campaigns for Audi, Carte Noire, Cerruti, Chaumet, Ford, l'Oréal and Renault. More importantly he is a campaigner for the Red Cross 'Anti-Landmine campaign' and more recently for Unesco.
