The discovery of Liz Stride's body

September 30, 1888 - Elizabeth 'Long Liz' Stride is killed in Dutfield's Yard, just off Berners Street at around 1am. Her throat had been cut, but she was not mutilated, leading to opinion that the Ripper had been disturbed after killing her.

Fact

Over the course of the Ripper murders, the police, newspapers and others received many thousands of letters regarding the case. Some were from well-intentioned persons offering advice for catching the killer. The vast majority of these were deemed useless and subsequently ignored.
