Rick Smart's great uncle was 2nd Lieutenant Eric Smart, Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Eric was killed in action in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. His great-nephew Rick tells his story, looking at the diaries and letters sent by a young man fighting in the Great War.
