This planet is beautiful and yet we now live with the looming threat of losing it and everything we hold dear. It’s not just a few obscure plants or insects that are being threatened by climate change, it’s the entire human race.
Some argue that it was our thirst for technology that put us in this mess so it’s only right that technology should get us out again. To this end we put together a crack team of engineers, inventors and eco-scientists who will put the most radical and ambitious environmental techno-solutions to the test and discover which are our best hopes for saving the Earth.
Right now, pioneering environmental scientists are drawing up radical plans to engineer the Earth’s climate and undo the damage we’ve done. Some of these will help counteract the effects of greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide, others will generate power with no carbon emissions and still others involve placing trillions of mirrors into orbit.
These projects are some of the strangest and often the largest scale engineering schemes ever planned, but with the future of the human race at stake, no scheme is too mad to consider.
