Q: After your stay with the Kombai you said that you acclimatised in around two weeks. How was it this time around?
Mark: A little less, I think. Although it varies from person to person I believe it’s a generally accepted medical opinion that the body needs a fortnight to adapt to radically different temperature and humidity levels, and at 2000 feet above sea level things weren’t so very uncomfortable.
It always takes me about a month though before every single insect bite ceases to be an irritation.
